All Riversiders had the chance to explore computer coding and the field of computer science during our celebration of the International Hour of Code week which extended through December in both our science lab and library. Our upper grade students got creative with several different hour of code activities on code.org’s website. Ms. Morris and Mrs. Lien loved seeing the myriad of dances our fourth and fifth grades created. Our younger students explored computer coding concepts using an app on the iPads (either Daisy the Dinosaur or Box Island). Some coders have been so excited that classroom teachers extended hour of code activities into classroom centers or passion project activities. No doubt that the world will benefit in the future from code created by former Riversiders!
