Dear Johnson Park Families:
It is with great pleasure that I write to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. I hope that your summer has been filled with fun family activities while enjoying the wonderful sunshine. This is always one of my favorite times of the year! I love the excitement of beginning the new school year—meeting new colleagues, welcoming our students and families, and preparing for the adventures that lie before us!
The faculty and staff at Johnson Park are working hard to see that your child(ren)’s learning experience is a successful and happy one. Our faculty and staff have an exciting year of learning planned. Your child(ren)’s homeroom teacher will be in communication with you in early September to share specific information about their class—daily schedule/routines, expectations, highlights for the school year, etc.
On Friday, August 27, your child’s homeroom teacher will be available in PowerSchool.
If you have not created a PowerSchool account yet, please view the step-by-step instructions at one of the following sites:
Once you have created your PowerSchool account, you can also create a Canvas account to access your teacher website pages. You can find instructions at one of the following sites:
Both of these accounts will support you and your child this school year. Our Daily Health Screening is located in PowerSchool. It is critical that you establish that account as soon as possible so you are ready to complete the screening every morning. If you need any assistance, please call the Main Office.
The first day of school is Thursday, September 9, 2021. The school day begins at 8:30 am. Student arrival to Johnson Park Elementary School begins at 8:15 am.
We have enclosed a condensed summary of items that are important for the start of a new school year. We will continue to provide updates to you via email or phone using our SchoolMessenger system. Please be sure that your phone number and email address is up to date at all times. If you need to make any corrections, you can do so in PowerSchool or you can call the Main Office.
We also have a Family Handbook available on our website that provides additional information about specific procedures we will follow during the year. Please visit the handbook at: https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1629719626/princetonk12org/qvaogcuwflub3oyjx5kn/2122FamilyHandbook.pdf
Johnson Park’s Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 23, 2021. This event will be a virtual event so that we can accommodate and engage all of our parents in a safe way. You will have the opportunity to meet your child(ren)’s teacher(s) as well as learn about the grade-level curriculum, specials, and activities. We will utilize our school’s website to organize all of this information for you. More details will be provided as we get closer to the event.
JP has an amazing Parent-Teacher Organization (P.T.O.) that is inclusive and active: All parents are automatically members, and we welcome your involvement. It is a wonderful way to support your child’s experience at JP—both academically and socially!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to a happy, safe, and productive year together.
