Middle School
Pre-K - 5th Grade Curriculum
Elementary students spend time each day studying Language Arts and Mathematics, along with Science and Social Studies. All students participate in a weekly science lab taught by their school's science teacher and their classroom teacher. Students participate in Physical Education, Health, Vocal Music, Art, and Library classes on a weekly basis as well. Starting in 2nd grade, students begin learning Spanish three to four days a week.
All of our elementary schools incorporate a focus period into the daily schedule, which provides a time for all students to actively engage in activities which support or challenge students' individual needs and interests. Students in the Accelerated Intervention Services (AIS) program typically receive their AIS instruction during the focus period so that they receive the same classroom instruction alongside their peers.
Our Pre-K - 5 curriculum is aligned to the NJ Student Learning Standards (NJSLS), integrating technology and interdisciplinary learning opportunities across all subjects. Students participate in a variety of opportunities to engage with learning outside the classroom, including through our garden education program, service learning, and field trips.
Community Park School offers a Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program in grades K-4 currently. Students in a DLI classroom spend approximately half the day learning in Spanish and half in English. For more information about this district DLI program click here.
