What can you build with an index card? You'd be surprised.
Matthew Halfacre, Design and Engineering Teacher, and his sixth grade students at John Witherspoon Middle School received compliments this week after Mr. Halfacre gave his students a challenge where they solved a design problem using only index cards.
"The students are given a 4-inch by 6-inch index card and have to build a structure that can hold a single textbook one inch off of a table top," explained Mr. Halfacre.
"This was a great project," said Tim Charleston, Supervisor of Social Studies & Global Education. "It showed structural and flexible design thinking with project limitations."
Here is the challenge given to the students and a few photos to show what they accomplished.
