What if There is a Covid Case in the District?

If a member of the  school community has tested positive for COVID-19...

  • We will immediately notify the Princeton Health Department so that health officials can help determine a course of action.

  • The scope and duration of a school closure will be made on a case-by-case basis. A short-term dismissal of students and most staff for two to five days will be considered to allow time for officials to gain a better understanding of the situation and determine next steps, including whether an extended closure is needed to eliminate further spread.

  • We will coordinate with health officials to keep staff, students, and the community informed while maintaining the confidentiality of the student or staff member as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act.

  • Areas visited by individuals with COVID-19 will remain vacant for as long as practical—24 hours, if possible—and then thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

  • Nearby doors and windows will be opened to encourage air circulation.

  • Contact Tracing—the process used to identify those who have come into contact with contagious diseases—is essential to limiting the spread of COVID-19. We will collaborate with the health department to develop contact tracing policies and procedures and educate the broader school community on its importance.
