Instructional Supports

During remote education, our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)will remain in place to identify students who need extra support. This includes:

  • Monitoring the effects of pandemic-era learning environments on the pacing of instruction, and adjusting as needed to ensure all students meet required standards.

  • Maintaining high levels of student engagement and fostering student ownership of learning, including student “voice and choice.”

  • Developing predictable routines and structures for students while maintaining student engagement through varied instructional strategies/modalities.

  • Providing regular feedback to students and families on expectations and progress.

  • Developing opportunities for real-time interactions with students (office hours, virtual meetings, etc.).

  • Understanding how trauma and other challenges related to social and emotional needs can impact learning, and using that knowledge to provide appropriate support.

  • Developing instructional plans that are flexible, promote innovation, and can be adapted to changing learning environments as necessary.

  • Promoting independent learning by designing learning experiences that provide support for struggling learners, enrichment activities, and a focus on topics that leverage student interest and address real-world issues.

  • Monitoring the progress of students with IEPs towards learning goals, and adjusting instruction based on ongoing formative and summative assessments.

  • Reviewing and updating data privacy and technology-related policies, to ensure they adequately address home use of devices.
