Princeton Public Schools has named Cecilia X. Birge Acting Assistant Principal at Princeton High School. Ms. Birge, a teacher of Special Education and Mathematics, has been the head coach for the PHS Speech & Debate Team at PHS since 2015. She has also been the assistant coach of the PHS Girls Volleyball Team and the coach of the Girls JV Volleyball Team.
"We are very pleased that Cecilia Birge will be an assistant principal at Princeton High School," said Interim Superintendent Barry Galasso. "She is an outstanding teacher and accomplished educator."
During her time at Princeton High School, Ms. Birge has been a community liaison with the Chinese American community. She has worked with PHS guidance counselors and the superintendent to bridge cultural gaps and promote a continuing dialog on race relations. She has also helped community organizations identify and support families suffering from financial and other hardships.
Ms. Birge first worked at Princeton High School in 2012 and then returned in 2015 after working at Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, NJ between 2013 and 2015. She has a bachelor's degree in history from Bryn Mawr College and a master's degree from Teachers College of Columbia University. Her other interests include Tae Kwon Do Hanmadang. She was a Silver Medalist in the U.S. Open Tae Kwon Do Hanmadang in 2012.
Ms. Birge joins two other assistant principals at the high school, Rashone Johnson and Jared Warren. She replaces Angela Siso Stentz who left PHS to serve as the Acting Principal of Johnson Park.
