About Community Park Elementary

The mission of Community Park is to provide all students with a safe, positive and challenging learning environment by establishing continuous educational experiences, which encourage all students to develop their unique strengths and to achieve their maximum potential.  This empowers students to become responsible and productive citizens of the world.

Our School Community Park School is located in the heart of the Princeton community. Our proximity to such unique resources as Princeton University, Princeton Public Library, the Arts Council of Princeton, as well as many other cultural and educational resources, provides opportunities for extensive enrichment experiences. Our kindergarten through fifth grade students reflect the multicultural diversity of the Princeton community; they represent every part of the world. We are proud of our accomplishments, including having been recognized by New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of the 31 Great Elementary Schools in New Jersey. In addition, Community Park School has been recognized for two years by the Business Coalition for Educational Excellence, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and the New Jersey Department of Education as a Benchmark School for high student achievement on the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge.

Our Instructional Program We offer a comprehensive curriculum based on the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. Our curriculum is flexible and accommodates all levels of ability to reflect both cognitive and affective goals. The program of study includes reading/language arts, mathematics, health and physical education, social studies, art, music, library skills and science, as well as weekly instruction in our science lab by our science specialist.

We began a Spanish Dual Language Immersion program in 2015 and it is now available for students in K-5. Students who are enrolled in the program receive 50% of their instruction in Spanish and 50% in English. Programs such as this promise bilingual, biliterate and multicultural outcomes for students by the time they move onto middle school.

Technology Students learn to use technology as an integral part of their education to access, process and communicate information. Computers and iPads are available to students. In addition we have a mobile classroom set of Chromebooks for in-class, whole group instruction. Age-appropriate coding is offered to students during science class. In addition, students have the opportunity to explore educational technology ranging from Mystery Skype collaborations to blogging to Genius Hour sessions. World language instruction will expand to include kindergarten and grade 1, in addition to students in grades 2-5.
