A 24-hour shelter for teens, Anchor House provides shelter for a limited time for youths in crisis.  The shelter also offers emergency counseling for youths who have run away or who have been put out of their homes and offers on-going out-client services for youths and their families.  The shelter provides a drug prevention program and at transitional living program for homeless youths.

This agency provides services for individuals and families where one or more members suffer from a mental illness.  Services include individual counseling,job placement, and community activities. Sliding fee scale.

This is a private, nonsectarian child-care and placement agency providing counseling services for expectant parents as well as family day care, short-term foster care, protective services for abused and/or neglected children, adoption services, and post-adoption services.  There is a sliding fee scale.

Corner House is a professional counseling agency with a special focus on young people, particularly those at risk due to situational crises, such as marital separation, divorce, death of a family member, or substance abuse.  The agency also has a broader function by providing counseling services to individuals and families for a wide range of issues, including personal growth issues and parenting skills, as well as offering child advocacy services.  Various workshops are offered periodically.  There is a sliding fee scale.

Family Services provides counseling and guidance services to families and individuals for marital problems, alcoholism, drug problems, and personal issues.  The agency also administers the Town Topics’ Christmas Fund, which provides small amounts of financial aid to people in crisis and provides day care for the frail elderly.  Sliding fee scale.
